Renovation of an Historic Apartment Tower and Skilled Nursing Facility

After successfully completing Maria Linden, an affordable Residential Care Apartment Complex (RCAC) for the School Sisters of St. Francis International Province, the US Province engaged General Capital and Grucon (Gary Grunau) to renovate an historic six-story apartment tower and single story Skilled Nursing Facility on its Sacred Heart Campus on Historic Layton Boulevard. General Capital helped the Sisters in all aspects of this $9 million renovation including managing the design process, producing detailed construction estimates for provincial approval and serving as the project’s General Contractor. The project required careful coordination throughout the construction process to allow some 60 elderly Sisters to maintain occupancy during construction. The project included a complete gut renovation of the historic tower, renovation of an historic dining room, renovation of an existing skilled nursing wing and a dramatic new entrance for the entire Sacred Heart facility.
