1004 Beech Street - Grafton, WI 53024
General Capital worked closely with Grafton stakeholders to develop a shared vision for this 100-year-old foundry site.
In 2000, General Capital won a competition sponsored by the Village of Grafton and the Goldberg family to redevelop a 100-year-old foundry in the heart of Grafton’s historic downtown. The community had a specific vision for the site, including the type of project (senior), as well as the design and orientation of buildings and landscape features. The development team utilized a public/private partnership and a complex environmental remediation process to clean up toxic foundry dust and other contaminants.
General Capital used affordable housing tax credits and built the first of its “Berkshire” properties. This flagship senior community includes 66 units of affordable independent senior housing with a variety of senior specific activity rooms and amenities. The property has enjoyed excellent occupancies since it opened in 2001.
