Chapel Garden Apartments

Milwaukee, WI

General Capital has a long relationship with the School Sisters of St. Francis, dating back to the renovation of Maria Linden, an RCAC in a portion of the School Sister’s campus on Layton Avenue. Chapel Garden Apartments is the final phase of redevelopment that includes 59 units in the oldest portion of the former convent building and four townhome units in the former carriage house structure. As part of the design process, General Capital worked closely with McQuillen Heritage Resources, the State Historic Preservation Office and the National Park Service to ensure compliance with historic preservation requirements. The project included several layers of financing including Housing Tax Credits, Historic Preservation Tax Credits, WHEDA Housing Trust Funds, City of Milwaukee TIF a seller note and traditional bank debt.
