In 1994, the predecessor to General Capital (Midland Development) acquired this 40-year-old shopping center at the commercial gateway to Milwaukee’s upscale North Shore neighborhoods. The property suffered from deferred maintenance, increasing vacancy and a general lack of re-investment. Midland partnered with the competing center across the street (Audubon Center) and ultimately coordinated a major renovation plan.
The reconstruction required careful planning and management to ensure that multiple tenants could remain open during construction. Today, Riverpoint Center is known for its high-quality national tenant mix including Best Buy, Osco, Lands End, Aurora Medical, and Noodles among others. The project continues to set the standard in Milwaukee’s North Shore.
